    Novice's thoughts on hubs

I am in the process of rebuilding my first New Departure hub. I previously rebuilt a Musselman hub, which was the first coaster brake I ever rebuilt. I just have to say the difference is remarkable. I see why people like the New Departure so much. It is a much superior design. Expanding...

    New cones needed. Which ones?

I've got a Weco front hub. The cones are shot. It has a 5/16' axle with 24TPI. What cones do I order to replace what I have. I'm guessing there is some Wald part that will do the job, but this is my first time to trip over this particular issue.

    New Felt Bikes--Sweet!

Love those bikes. Wish they would shut down their Taiwan operations and move production to the U.S. I hear there are a few people looking for work, and I bet they would love to build those with pride in this country. Maybe as the U.S. dollar looses value and shipping costs rise the bean...

Western Flyer Seat Post help needed

Trying to fit a seat with a modern clamp on it to my Western Flyer X-53. The seat post seems an odd size. I cannot find anything at the hardware store to replace it with. I Need a post that fits the frame and that is wide (not narrow) at the top. The stock pipe is way, way, too narrow for my...

New wheels, what would you buy?

Ok, So, lets say you had a project sitting around and you were tired of not having it on the road. All that you needed was a set of 26" wheels. You have been looking for an old set with a skip tooth hub and all, but don't see one around. And, you decide to just order a brand new wheel set...

Bad bearing race, is the hub shot?

Found out why the hub was grinding. This hub must have been run dry at some point and overheated, some metal was sheared off the back of the cage and welded itself to the cone and the part of the hub where the cage slides along. Is there a clever way to save this, or is it time to junk it?

Dyno + Rechargable batteries + 12v How do I do it?

I would like to figure out how to run a dynamo and batteries, such that the dynamo powers the LED lights, horn, and speakers for the mp3 player, and that any excess electricity gets sent to the batteries. Anyone out there have a advance set up like this? Willing to share how this voodoo works?

Get nice edges on rattle can stripes

This is a simple trick. To prevent paint from bleeding under the taped off stripe, do the following. Say you want to put a red stripe down a white fender (mud guard). Lay down the primer and white. Then tape off where you want your red stripe. Now shoot another layer of white paint. This...

Blue Line Bike Lab - Houston, TX (Thumbs Up)

The guys at Blue Line Bike Lab are stand up guys. I can recommend them highly. Here is why: I took an old fork from a Rollfast to Blue Line Bike Lab to have the threads on the stem chased. They had gotten distorted over the past 60 years and just needed to be chased for a new headset to fit...
