    LET'S SEE THOSE ROLLFAST!!!!

My girlfriend's Rollfast, hung on her garage wall for the winter. It was put together with whatever we could scrounge, including 24" wheels and tires on a frame originally meant for 26" and a seat from an exercise bike that had been recovered in ostrich skin.

    EBAY Bid Fell Through

Sounds like BS, why would he be unable to ship due to a Paypal issue? I bet he got offered more money for it (or just didn't get as high of a bid as he wanted) so he's making up a BS story to try to get out of the deal. You'll get your money back, eBay is good about that, but you won't get...

    White tire paint?

I've done at least 10 sets of car tires with Snow Seal, which is a trailer roof coating. It's elastic and will not crack off (even on a flat tire) but the key is you have to clean the tire super well with lacquer thinner before brusing it on or they'll turn brown. Works better on tires that...

Were all boy's Flightliners originally red and girls that aqua color?

^^ Thanks Nagant, that means a lot!

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

I think the Flightliner above, "Pee Wee Herman style" is worth the asking price, it's a men's frame with the tank and the rack, plus new tires. Add a rat trap springer, some chrome fenders and a good detailing job and that'd be a real nice bike. I've seen just that tank sell for over $100 before.

    Before & After Pics

My two latest, posted elsewhere but may as well toss them in here, too.

Were all boy's Flightliners originally red and girls that aqua color?

Found out my bike is a '62 and was originally Flambouyant Red/White so I decided to go back to that. Here's some before and after pics, gonna post these in a couple other spots too but figured I'd give an update.

    All things Flightliners...

Here's mine, just finished. Bought the frame/tank at a swap meet for $35 along with a random girl's bike and bought my buddy's Spaceliner to rob the best pieces off of. Put the Spaceliner back together with the girl's bike donor and sold it off to get my pieces I wanted cheap, turned out...

Cool, would love to see a picture of that if you have one.

Were all boy's Flightliners originally red and girls that aqua color?

I've searched around on the web for a while but can never seem to come up with an answer. Seems like every boy's Flightliner I've ever seen was originally red with a white tank, or chromed with a red tank, and all the girl's were that aqua/turquoise blue-green color. Did they offer different...

Skirt Guard Gallery - Post Pics Here

Here's my Rollfast with front and rear skirts.

    Front and rear skirt guards

I have some finished pics of the bike, I know this isn't really a build thread but I'll put them here anyway. Paint cleaned up pretty nice, overall I'm real happy with the effect. And a before pic. I'll post the ones above in the skirt thread too, just to make for better searching in...

    shaving side wall texture?

On regular car tires, I've had good luck removing lettering with an 80 grit pad on a DA sander, set to the spin mode. I would think it'd work just as well on bike tires. Practice on some old junk ones first!

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

$1000 does seem high, but I wonder what that bike would actually bring. It does look extremely clean for an original one, and I've never seen a manual for one of those things. It's got the tank and the springer too. I wonder how many years away we are from bikes like that actually bringing...

    Front and rear skirt guards

Thanks for all the replies. I did think about extending the tank like some of the other Rollfast bikes have, I like that look, but the tank has original paint and I am trying to preserve as much of it as possible. The pic makes the white pieces look really fresh but I think that's mostly from...

    Front and rear skirt guards

I remember there being an old thread a while back discussing skirt guards, along with a photoshop of a bike with front and rear skirt guards. Couldn't find that thread in a search. I'm putting a bike together now with that exact setup and was wondering if anyone else had ever done this yet...

    Countdown to RRBBO-9! ...START!

Hey guys, sorry if my questions have been answered elsewhere, but I didn't read all 19 pages. I've been collecting parts all winter for a bike build, and I figure since I haven't started yet, I'd like to put my build in the build-off. It'll be a great motivation for me to finish it, and I'm a...

Now all I need is a steam engine and I'm set.

Thanks. I'm calling it Rollfast, die young. (hope that name isn't taken yet). Yeah, no chain, and needs bearings all around and some small hardware to be rideable yet, but I had to put it together to see what it would look like, and to make some space in my shop. The plan is to motorize...

    HEY CHEESE HEADS!!!

The Symco Shakedown is the 10th and 11th. A bit north of Madison but it's well worth it, and a surprising lot of custom bikes for a hot rod/rockabilly show. If you're around until then, definitely check it out.
