    Got a LaSalle...need some information

Thanks, but I was only describing my limited expierence with builds in general. So sounds like the online Lowrider part suppliers would be a better source for me since I'm not going for an era specific restoration. Thanks Dougfisk.

    Got a LaSalle...need some information

Thanks for the quick response Dougfisk. Hopefully I can get pics up soon. By modern I just mean easily sourced, without having to try and restore or get stuck with using the old original parts.I'd like to use new parts wherever possible. I suppose my interest in the bike is solely in the frame...

    Got a LaSalle...need some information

Hey everyone. Wasn't sure where to post this, but I've bought off craigslist a 26" LaSalle. The headbadge reads LaSalle Bicycle Supply Chicago. The frame has a straight bar below a slightly bowed or curved top bar. The dropouts are rearward or face away from the pedals. It has the flat,forged...

Question about converting 7 speed to single speed.

I know, that does seem pretty obvious, but while stripping the bike the thought of a single speed cruiser seemed to fit the bike better. (Plus I'm on vacation and need a little project.)

Question about converting 7 speed to single speed.

I appreciate all the info! A LBS suggested the that I just lose the derailer, and the shifter, pick a gear on the rear sprocket and just run a smaller/tighter chain. The front sprocket is a single. Might not look as clean as a complete conversion but the bike will be a spare for when the kids...

Question about converting 7 speed to single speed.

Hope someone can give me an assist, My wife's got a Huffy 26" seven speed. It's a cruiser style. I'm in the process of stripping and re-painting the frame. My question is would it be possible to convert it to a single speed with coaster brake? And is it as easy as changing the rear rim with the...

    Free Spirit project update...

I know pics would be nice, but so far this is where the project's at: Frame and fork - Krylon satin black. Fork Lowers -(approx.5 1/2" worth from axle mount up) painted Krylon gloss white. Saddle - Mtn. bike style by Bell from Walmart. Pedals - Black Plastic Walmart variety. Handlebar - will...

REVIEW OF CROWN CYCLES' "heck ON WHEELS" CRUISER

I like that bike. I've primered items in the past and thought ..Hmmm, that looks good enough to stop right now. But to me, it just don't feel done until there's a color coat on it. I know opinions will vary. If that's the way the manufacturer sells it , it must be the type of primer that is...

    Bed Liner Paint...

Wow from the pic it looks like flat black paint. Is there any texture to it or is it a fairly smooth finish ?

    Bed Liner Paint...

Has anyone tried using (truck) bed liner paint/finish on their frames ? I've seen it used on motorcycles,it gives the finish something between a hammered or kinda textured look. Definately would provide a "bullet proof" finish. Also comes in rattle can and colors other than black. If you've...

    jville fl on the 4th?

Jimbo, I'm new to the board and my Sears & Roebuck Free Spirit project is just in the early stages. Not sure I'd have it ready for the 4th of July, but a Fla meet/ride sounds good. I'm on the West Coast of Fla. 'Bout 50 miles N. of Tampa. Keep me in mind for future meets.

It is a coaster brake. It'll take me a little while to learn what to properly call the dohickeys and whatknauts.

    Sears and Roebuck Free Style...

Cool deal, kinda have an idea of how I'd like this one to look and skinny tires weren't part of the plan.
