I was thinking of doing this the exact same way. Stringing it up is a good way to make sure everything is aligned - probably better than it is coming out of someone's junk pile.

Here's a couple of pics. Swapped out a few parts, the biggest change was changing out the stock cranks for some Mosh/Giant BMX cranks. I lost the front brake and changed to lighter tires (those Michelins are HEAVY) since I shot these pics. It's a fun bike for sure.

Changed up a couple of parts with stuff more suitable and finally took some decent pics. 1979 MCS MagnaCruise.

I think this project is now done. Race Inc RA29. Redid the graphics, swapped the bars for Cook Bros Ti cruiser bars and the seat for a real San Marco Regal. 23.7 lbs of radness.

Rims are SE, and yes, I did have to drill out the spoke holes.

Bike turned out great! Glad I was able to help out a little. Very cool piece.

I redid the chainline when I overhauled the hub. Shortened the axle and moved/removed spacers to get it right. Not too tricky.

Briefly. It may happen at some point. If so I'll go black to match my truck.

I use the pig as a nod to K-SHE 95 - my favorite radio station as a kid. I do have the Blodwyn Pig album though.
