BOAs are VERBOTEN for VerBoten. Mounted on of my new BOA whitewalls to check for clearance and they are not gonna fit the bike. I'm cool with that though. I like the current fatness and profile of the Electra Retro Runners. I only mounted the front tire, but I took measurements and it won't work on the rear either unless I extend the dropouts 2.5" back.

For future reference here are the measurements I took of both the BOAs and the Retro Runners on the 57mm 3G wheels.

3G BOA-G (26x3.45)
Max Width = 2 7/8" at 12.5" from axle
Height = 2 9/16" above top lip of rim

Electra Retro Runners (26x2.125)
Max Width = 2 5/8"
Height = 2 5/16" above top lip of rim

So the BOAs are 1/4" wider and 1/4" taller from rim (1/2" taller overall)
If my cipherin is right, the BOAs are about 19% fatter than the Electras

Switched out the crank. I forgot that I had this cool one. I think it came from a PHAT XC03 chopper that I had. The styling goes great with the teardrops. Installed the crank with a couple more spacers to clear the BB shroud. I now have good clearance.

Decided to try going with 26" wheels because of the big gap above the 24" tire on the Evanaction fork. The only fat 26" wheels I have are these 3G copper ones that I got from one of my @Wildcat purchases. My new BOA whitewalls are at my office, so I put these Electra whitewalls on (I think they were called Retro Runners or something like that).

I haven't decided on frame color yet, so not sure if these will be the final wheels.

Good rim and tire clearance with these tires. There is a possibility that the BOAs just might fit.

Excellent rim choice, Kingfish.

This is the one case where "mo fatta is not mo betta"....o_O

Sorry the BOAs are a little too chubby, however the Retro-Runners look great on it. So, still winning....build on brother!

The old tires look great too, no bad choices there!
Luke.

I'm not too disappointed about the BOAs. The Runners are pretty fat on the 57mm rims.
It was cool to see the whitewall BOAs mounted up though. They will be slick on some future build.

Thanks, I still may end up with some red ones. I just had the copper ones laying around. I'll work that out when I decide what the paint scheme is gonna be.

80 and 100mm rims are fine for some, but I really think that the sweets spot is 33-57mm for most bikes. I look forward to seeing some paint on this loco-motive.

Yeah, I actually like the profile of the Felt 50mm rims better than the 3G 57mm. I also found that HBBC sells rims just like the Felt's but cheaper.
I am wide open on color choices now.
I originally thought turquoise with red wheels, but I am not sure I am feeling that anymore.
I think the metallic coppertone would look great on the frame, but I don't know what color wheels or accent color for that.
I even thought of maybe a metallic purple or burgundy.
I don't want to go with too dark a frame color because I think that hides the twin bars too much.

For future reference, I found an old patio lawn chair the other day that could be used for handlebars. I didn't buy this one because it was at an overpriced antique mall. I'll find one cheap eventually.

If the BOAs are too tight of a fit as is add a couple of washers on both insides of the forks. This creates a spacer for you that will push the sides apart.

Thanks. That may work on a normal blade fork, but this Evanaction basically has two layers of fork on the upper section.

Those handlebars do look streamlined (modern design). Don't your knees hit them? I really liked the curvy apes too.

At their current length I have to dodge them when I turn. When I ride straight my knees go between them fine. That is why I plan to take about 6-8 inches off.

I'd say give it a try. As you change the angle on the bottom you change the angle on top. Try placing the washers between the Evanaction strut rods and the fork. If that does work, maybe moving the struts to attach on the axle inside the fork legs. I would think one of those could work.
