@Funkme , I have a degree in Musical Stringed Instrument Repair, and the final proof in a repair is like your anticipation of the bike riding well. You do all you can to get all the parts right, assemble it, and then hopefully make 'beautiful music'. Until it is complete, one can only base their anticipation on the accuracy of their work and the quality of their materials used. Then the 'soul' must be breathed into the instrument / bicycle....

Had a chance to look at the finished builds... Some excellent bikes have made it to the end.... I have a ride now,and then back to the bike... I ran out of black paint,so will have to run and get that.

Today was a one step forward,2 steps back sort of day. Everything I touched I destroyed...
Weld the stem wrong,have to re-do that. Scratched all the guards etc,they dont fit properly.

I dont know how you guys do it...
I have tried everything and different types of paint. But no matter what I use it just scratches off. Maybe Greek paint is not as good as USA paint.

My list has become longer. I have 9 things to do...On top of putting it together.

I dont think it will be completely finished in time
But as long as it pedals thats all that matters...
The adjustments I can do after.

My guess is it wasn't long enough cure time as it takes a few weeks depending on temperature and humidity (I'm not exactly sure on time and I've only done any decent work with epoxy resin, but I always gave it a week more than recommended). As it cures, oils and stuff come to the surface and paint obviously won't stick to that. Assuming the cure time and resin/hardener was mixed fine, did you clean the surface well with acetone and scuff it for the primer?

There can definitely be a learning curve to this stuff. I covered the wood deck of a 17' (5.2m) kayak in 3 layers of epoxy working in a closed, but uninsulated porch. First two went well, but the weather did a rapid change from hot and dry to cold and damp and the third layer got cloudy. I then had to chip off the epoxy with a chisel, trying not to gouge the wood underneath (sanding would have taken . . . I'd still be doing it from 2013). Gave a real sense of how long 17' can be.

Today I just buried my head and went for it...
I started from the front wheel and worked my way back.
The 100 things quickly went down to about 5-6.

Nothing major left do. But set all the cables etc and mount tank. Some touch ups. And just maybe have time to make a rear rack?

One of the issues I had was the spring rubbing on the frame... Even my other girders have done this,in the past but not so much.
Not sure if it is a stretched spring,maybe slant,this looks bad compared to the others.

So I have some very fine aluminium laying around,a huge sheet.
So I trimmed a bit off and shaped it... Then just polished and pop riveted on.

It would be nice to etch a headbadge,but useless as it will mark instantly....
But did have another brainiac light bulb moment(if I get time)
On another note this sheet is 1m x 2m in length. I feel lots of etching in the winter.

Done.... Other than a chainguard and adjust brakes and gears. Simpatico is FINISHED. Here is a taste.
I will update on all the work I have done. Need to go and get better pictures. It is 3pm here,and I have 15hrs left.
I worked all day and onto 3.30 am and up at 6am to complete.
She is actually very slick to ride,soft and rolls perfectly.
Eventually I will make the handle bars a hand wider,as I prefer to ride wider...

Simpatico is electric 500w rear wheel with a 36v lipo battery.

Up against the life size print. Well super sized version.

The old donkey path,that was used as the main road still exists today. This is where the first set of shots were taken.

Went with black grips in the end the brown ones did not match the rest.

Rear roll leather bag from India($10) Nice and soft with excellent craftsmanship.
Rear plate has nothing on it,was thinking Simpatico #13 or a Rat Rod Bikes #13 etched into it. Or a decal. To decide.
Rear tailight,modified with a 6v-85v inside.China($6 & $3)

Taken at one of the oldest neo classical houses in the countryside.The outside wall. This would have been the stable or servant entrace.

Started with a 36v lipo battery pulled it apart so it would fit in. Left the alloy case on fro protection.

Headlight on and working,nice and bright.Pulled out the insides and replaced with a 6v-85v led light.

The rear light I used one of these.

Popped right in,just had to grind the alloy down a bit for the lens to fit on.

In the end I decided not to use the tacky clay one I made.

WOW! The whole concept looks great, like a classic old motorcycle without an engine and the little details are really nice!

Does the SA shifter work the rear derailleur? It looks like you have two grip shifts, too, or is one the throttle, but there's no front derailleur, so what's the other one for? I'm definitely missing something!
