Those cups look SO good on that frame, sealed cartridge bearings I assume?

Haven't ordered them yet. I checked the local bikes shops but no luck. Gonna be using a modern 3 piece crank.
I also used the BA Bolt as a bearing cup press for the Retro Ryder headset too.
I love the headbadge but as you can see, it has it's share of dings, dents, and bends.
I was able to get under the badge pins and remove the badge.

Broke out the trusty cobblers anvil and hammers and pliers and such.
It's not perfect, but it is much better than it was.
I also cleaned up and sanded the front of the headtube casting. I am leaving the badge off for now, so that I can add some paint highlights to it before I put it back on.

Assembled the Tortuga forks with Retro Ryders headset. I need to dig out my threadless stem spacers somewhere.

These are the cranks that I plan to use. Appropriate match to the tires, don't you think?
I need to order new bearings though. I kinda messed one set of these when I removed them from the bike they were on.

Productive day in Savanah! I like the cranks, tubular shape is cool.
Pure Awesomeness in the making. 
Disaster struck yesterday. After I posted up pics of my bearing cup press, Michael Palmer (my friend that bought SaltHammer) asked it there was a crack on the BB.
Sure enough, there was
I even went out to the shop to double check.
The pressure of messing with the cups caused a sizable crack in the BB.

Hmmm. Not good, for sure.
I would hope some one talented & practiced with aluminum tig could seal that up without warping or further complication. This is a frame worth saving, if possible. Good luck.

Sorry for the leaving this hanging. I meant to post the repair right after I posted this, but the Queenfish wanted to go out to eat. I gave @Skydreamer a buzz to see if I could come see his fab shop and asked if he thought he could repair aluminum. Silly question. He's been welding on aircraft for decades. So I took it to him today. He rocked it repairing it perfectly and solid. I did freak out inside a little when I saw how much he ground out. But I knew to do otherwise would be like putting a bandaid on cancer.

Oh yeah, and on top of saving HEXtreme, I got to hang out in this killer huge workshop / fab shop. He even has a plasma table and a milling machine!!! I can't wait to see his build come to life. He has some sweet ideas for it!
Yeah, Mark was in his natural element working on this. It was fun to watch.
