Started rolling some metal for the handlebars. This is an 18" diameter roll on 1" x 16ga. square tubing, and it could still go tighter if needed.

I wanted to check for clearances before I weld the rear dropouts in. I did better than thought. The frame will have 2.5" of clearance and the pedals will be right at 1.5". I'll be about to keep the fork straight and park it on the pedals. Measured the final length and it's 128.5 inches (326cm), just shy of 11 feet long. I already plan on putting titanium strips under the frame, especially the tail dragger sectionView attachment 234571
Sparks!

Love the process and craft in this build! This bike might be longer than your kayak?

Just imagine if I put a pintle hitch on this bike and towed the kayak around town. 😆
That would be quite the sight! Fat tires on your kayak for less depth/more floating effect on water :rockout:

I guess you are quite busy already finishing this beauty!

I feel like Sid from Toy Story when he got his rocket. "It came! It finally came!" As much as I want to pop this bad boy on my bike and ride it right now, I'm starving and have to stuff my face first, then do adulting stuff. Soon, my precious

Posted nearly 2 hours ago. How much feeding does your face need?

Finally got done adulting, back to play time. Got the back tire mounted and she's dummy thicc!
From left to right: 26x4" tire mounted on a 5.3" wide rim (rear tire), 26x2.5" tire mounted on 3.25" rim (front tire), a 26x2.5" tire mounted on a balloon tire rim for my Monark Super Deluxe, and lastly a 26x2.125 balloon tire on a balloon tire rim for my class one build

OK, I'll bite. Who in the world makes a 26"x 5.3" wide rim?!? I am trying to find the widest rubber/rim combo for FearSteer to aid in stability....The used motorcycle tires I dug out of a dumpster (local motorcycle shop) are way too rounded - I guess for performance handling....BTW, great little heard of shoes you've got going there...

Check out Micargi on Ebay. It's a dumb 140 spoke drilled rim (instead of the standard 144) so you either have to use their brand hubs or drill a hub yourself. The rim actually measures 135 mm across

With this tire combo, it really wants to live with right around 3.5" of ground clearance. Which is perfect, maybe I won't have to worry about dragging the tail too much around town. Didn't realize adding the head tube gear would pick the front end up so much. But now it shouldn't 🤞drag frame if one of the tires goes flat

That is kinda the look I was going for, fatty in the back but tall skinny in front. I will post pics in my thread so as not to step on yours....

Oh now that makes me wonder what the removable wheelchair hubs are. Those would certainly limit how much the chair sinks into the ground when in the yard. Might need some creative dish or spacers but those can be sorted easier than trying to tie two thinner rims together.

Wanted to get this thing at least in rolling chassis tonight, so that meant making the rear dropouts. Wanted to emulate the sleek ones I had on the Mk. 1 trial frame, but just like myself they got a little fatter

Fired up my favorite C.A.D. (cardboard aided design) program and made a template, then went to the C.N.C. (crafty 'n cheap) table, fired up the death wheel and burned the parts out.

It needs to be refined, but I'll wait until I can wheel this beast around for a little while

Just throwing this out there, any chance you could make the drop out plate extend to the end as a partial skirt, just to continue the lines of the bike? I know you have plans to refine it, it just seems (as it stands) to sever the flow of the frame to the rear point.

That... That's actually a really darn good idea. Maybe even make that section a functional bagger

Today is a good day. Why, you and the voices in my head may ask? Because today is test ride day. Yeah, the handlebars are 8-10" too short, the pedals want to fall off because I forgot to tighten them, and the seat is too low. But I just don't care! It feels great too ride it around. The double wide bottom bracket is going to take some time getting used to. And there are no unusual rattles or chain rub.
