What if the chain guard brackets included some kind of a plastic guide block to keep it off the white walls?

I am just starting to have this issue myself, Which is why I initially was going to stay away from white walls. But I’m not opposed to chain guides. Particularly if they are invisible.

I am not a fan of chain guides at all. I should be able to handle this with cog and ring offsets.

Here is the old 18T cog and the new 22T cog. Maybe only 1mm more dish ro it. If need be, I can always use one the big offset ogs that Felt used to have.

I think I am going with the 48T AMF star chainring. It has a nice offset dish to it. I've always lived these and have actually used them on 3 of my build off bikes, including my first one.

I also added another spacer washer behind the ring just for good measure.

I am already digging this shining star chainring.

Documenting new gearing.
22T rear and 48T front
2.18 gear inches

Got the new drivetrain on. Now for a short test ride

Bike rode excellent. This gear ratio is actually a little better for cruising. I couldn't see, hear, nor feel any chain slop. I'll know for sure after I clean the tires and then go on a few rides.

I like hare backgrounds show through the stars.

I wasn’t suggesting that you needed a chain guide that would rub on the chain all the time. Just something that would prevent a random chain slap against the tire.

It looks like you’re getting a lot more contact than I am. Most of my problem disappeared with an adjustment.

I like how level the chain stretches out on top with this new combo.

I have decided that i am using the limo fin skirts for sure. Pulled out the rattier pair that I have to mockup. Working on the chain guard placement and new brackets today. It's super hot one out here today.

Those are too cool and the fins look to be a signature of yours. Looking tough!πŸ’ͺ🏻

Thanks. I don't know if they are a signature, but I did use skirts as fins one other time. (flipped upside down on VerBoten).
But it will be my 4th time using skirtguards in 11 years of build offs.
I do like how pointy these are compared to most other skirtguards.

Got the front chainguard bracket shaped and placed, then marked up the mounting on the guard so that it was spaced properly around the drivetrain and level.

Made a couple of notches in the lower lips of the guard to help avoid any clearance issues with the chain and chainring.

Then I moved on to securing the rear of the guard. Well, I discovered where some of the weight of this frame comes from. The U-shaped seatstars were made from solid rod!!
