Oh no! Without the 8 -ball, how will you decide which bars to use on your builds, Ouija board?

I'll figure out the shifter esthetics down the road. Put some temp clamps on it and found some cabling. Adjusted it and now I'm gonna put the tank back on and test ride it.

The hose clamps are just temporary. But everything is buttoned up enough to test.

Bike was cool before, now it's awesome with the stick shifter. I may have missed it, how many gears in the hub?

Thanks, it's a Nexus 3.

Still need to work on the shifting a little more. First gear was fine, but occasionally when I shifted to 2nd or 3rd, the forward pedalling would lock up. The wheel would still coast and I could still backpedal to engage the brake. Shifting it back to first everything worked normally again.
Has anyone experienced this before with a Nexus 3 hub?

Like the little stand in knob.

Thanks for the video, I did that and kept checking it on the ride. 2nd was always in the guides. I've had plenty of Nexus3's and normally that simple 2nd gear setting is about all you have to do. But I've never had this weird thing happen before.

The little shifter knob is the one that comes on these Project346 shifters.

Ah I see. Never played with the nexus before.

KF, I have had Nexus 3 hubs come with the wrong length push rod, from high production companies, with a stock wheel. That can have a big effect on shifting performance. There are 3 lengths, but the third one is for fat bike hub widths. Here's a guide with specs:

I would pull the one you have, measure it, and order the other of the two regular sized push rods. Amazon has them.

I have found that even when I thought I had the right length, the other one solved the issues.

Never realized there were different sized rods and axles for these. Guess I've been lucky because it's always been a crapshoot if I am using the original bell housing and push rod that came with the wheelset. I'll search around and see what sizes I have and try them out if they are different. Thanks!

The first push rod was 87mm. I found another that is 82mm. We'll see if it makes a difference.

Changed out to the shorter push rod. Adjusted for the 2nd gear reference range, then road down the lane. 1st and second worked. One difference I could tell was that 1st gear was actually 1st gear. With the longer push rod, 1st gear felt like 2nd.
When I shifted to 3rd, with the shorter rod, the pedaling forward was locked.
I am suspecting the issue may be the assembly and adjustment of the rear hub. Since the brake arms don't come off from these Nexus 3 hubs, in order to get the moon disc on, I had to remove the whole brake arm with the attached shroud and left side guts. My guess is, that I didn't quite get the reassembly done properly or adjusted correctly. I'll try and redo that tomorrow.

Getting 1st gear to feel like first gear is a good sign. I had the same result once I changed out the push rod. On one build, I didn't have the coaster brake arm tightly secured and shifting into 3rd stopped my forward motion. So I think you might be on to something.

The Black Cat Customs bars that I won came in. These things are crazy and the chrome outs them over the top.

I'm not using them on FOOLIGAN, but I did hold them up to ot for size reference.
