Does anybody know if there is an affordable alternative for the tire. I picked up a 68 or 69 krate front end with the atom drum brake for really cheap. The wheel is in awesome shape but the fork needs a little help. I thought I could just use any 16" tire. I didn't look close enough to see the s-7 stamping when I got it. The thing is, this wheel isn't going on a schwinn, so I'd like to find an alternative that looks plain. No schwinn or s-7 lettering. Any ideas? I saw one on ebay at a somewhat decent price but the shipping was more than the cost of the tire.

If I tell them it's ok to fold the tire in half do you think they'd work with me on the shipping? The cost to ship is the same as the tire cost. If it was going on an actual schwinn then no problem. Man I hate Schwinn sizings. Especially when it's going on a columbia that will have no resale value.
