I agree with you on the blackwalls. Does the linseed oil change the color of the bare metal to any degree?

I've never had it change the color of bare steel before, maybe if you put it on to thick it would discolor it a little. The oil is naturally a translucent yellow.

Took the bike back down, and started stripping the house paint off the original J.C Higgins wheels.

Took the Schwinn sprocket off, and put this Higgins sprocket on. I buffed it to bare metal so it would match the frame.

Disassembled the pedals and cleaned them. Really turned out great.

I finally get to use this awesome Coast King tire set.

One of the tires it's practically brand new.

This stuff right here, say no to slime say yes to stans. I only use this stuff in my tubes, basically makes them goat head proof.

Super Cool J.C Higgins rear hub, as I was taking it apart. It seems to be a muscle man hub branded as a J.C Higgins hub.

The front hub seems to be a Schwinn script hub, you can barely tell the difference in the drop center rims.

This is one sweet wheel set.

Mocked it up and took it for a ride. I'm really digging the black walls as well, still needs something though. Maybe flipping the bars upside down for more of a moto look I don't know. Let me know what you guys are thinking.

looks great. I like the saddle down, I also like the bars upside down, but she is beautiful anyway.

Love it Scrib! Maybe you could faux-paint the rack to match the subtle fork color and graphics?

I highlighted the cool graphics on the coast King tires, I just use silver Sharpie to achieve this look.

I'm somewhat on the fence about switching the bars out. Simply because the Torrington bars are original to the bike, but here are some options.

@SILVERKINGPC how about using this original paint rack, instead of putting faux patina on the bare metal one.

Cleaning vinegar. No matter how rusty a chain is you let it sit in that stuff for two days and it will be like brand new after.
And thanks for looking for a piece of chain:thumbsup:
I do a day or so in gasoline to remove the crud, couple days in vinegar, hot water rinse and a dunk in the used oil tub-its mostly trans fluid right now, blow it out with air.

Switched out the racks today, I'm thinking of going back to the bare metal one. I really like this one but it sits up a little higher then the other one, and I feel it throws off the lines of the bike.

I rode this very bike in bare metal for years very odd how it returned to that state.

I'm glad you got to see it again, it's a super nice ride :cool2:

So glad you kept the OG. Paint on that fork ,I think I passed it on to the rite dude .
Do you need a Guard ?
Rafael

Thanks for asking but I'm good, this model didn't come with a chain guard from the factory. plus I need to let this one go, so I can fund my Elgin Twin Bar project :D. I think it's probably rised in value and style since last I asked you to appraise it .
