1956 Schwinn Deluxe Hornet Find!

no expert but the badge says spitfire but the guard says hornet. Was it pieced together? Nice find regardless!!!
I thought the badge was odd too, but bought from the original owners basement. The old women died and the family sold off her stuff. I have never seen one with the badge but appears to have not been changed from what I can tell.

Anyone who has worked in a factory on an assembly line knows that every once in a while, you run out of the part you need. Production can't stop, so another similar part is substituted until the correct part arrives. That's my guess how your bike got that badge. It's unique...enjoy it. Gary
