Hey everyone, this is a restoration I'm working on right now and I thought I'd share the build process here aswell. This is an early 1970 CCM Spoiler single speed rebadged by a possibly local market store that isn't around anymore. As a reminder, the Spoiler is a variant of the Marauder frame under the same brand, the serial frame number is: B533935 and the hub is a coaster Komet Super. This Spoiler does'nt have the usual solid ''Spoiler Orange'' color (probably due to being rebadged and sold as a special Spoiler for the implied market store), instead it sports a dark metallic orange (as seen under the chainguard, where the UV lights didn't affect the paint) with matching Hunt Wilde handlebar tape. It's been heavily sunburned, to a point where the silver base coat is clearly visible. It's complete and even have some extra pink streamers, atleast they were pink at some point in time.

On further look:

Here is a peak at the original color, underneath the chainguard:

And here is the layout of the now non-existant badge:

** If anyone have any information on what could be the badge used on this bike, please share it! Again there isn't much info about these bikes. **

About that badge:
From what I've gathered it might be a Woolco badge since the bike itseflseems to match the bike on this Woolco add on pretty much all of the details mentionned.
Problem is, Woolco badges aren't common and I haven't seen one yet...

-Front rim & Tire:

1419308585-dscf0196.jpg

-Chainguard: No cracks, a bit shaded but in overall really good condition.

What's been done:

Some cracks were present around the tube and plate area and has been fixed:

**On a side note, those cracks were probably cause by a lack of welding on the upper part connecting the plate to the head tube, lack that was revised on later model.

Frame has been repainted with a close match mixed step by step since I couldn't scan the paint:

That's all for now! Will post more soon, with less spoilers hopefully!

Just got these recently, I knew someone who luckily had still one entirely re-chromed for sale plus he had NOS forks laying around so... why not save on chroming while it's possible! The fork is already on & I'll be waiting before adding the bars, until the rest that needs to be re-chromed (fenders, crank & sissybar) gets re-chromed. Shops are closed... So probably after New Year's eve...

''looking great! i find old ccm bikes are always a pleasure to work on. just a good quality bike''

I have a bunch of CCM Hi-risers and none have let me down, although some of them have their downside, the wedge frames (Marauders/Wedge/Spoiler) in particular, are kind of heavy.

Just a small update, I've recieved the new tape for the handlebar & got around installing them. They're red but since they're also translucent, they give more so give a dark orange shade.

Also, parts a gone to the chrome shop and should be ready in a couple of weeks.

This is where it's at at the moment, currently waiting for a pair of cotter pins & front redline tire. Next week, I'll look forward someone (different from the guy I used to go to) to do a recover of my other Spoiler seat since I've got this one for acurate measures, at the same time, if the end result is good, I'll do a recover for this seat aswell (& keep the original cover).

Also, I have two redline rear tire, a Knobby & a Slick but I'm still not sure what to use... The slick is used but would be my first slick, the Knobby on the other hand is NOS never used but I've got plenty of these type of tires...

Anyone that are in possession of a Baycrest badged bike? I think this is the badge that was missing, wouldn't mind confirmation and more detailed picture if someone has any!

Update time!

The crank has been added, wheels have been cleaned, greased & trued and aslo installed. I've decided to go for the Groove Thread slick since the Knobby would be a better match for one of my other projects. I have plans on cutting down a Trygg kickstand I have to have the bike leveled on the ground, it's a personnal preference, I do it with all my wedge frames.

This restoration is close to completion, I've contacted someone who makes a good bunch of CCM stickers/decal so I can get the stem safety sticker (aswell as stickers for all of my other futur restos). I will look forward recovering the seat, but not by the same guy I went to for my 3-Speed Spoiler's seat and will also ask to keep the original in case it turns out to look bad, if it turns out like a good match I'll also re-recover my other Spoiler seat( since it's lacking the front-end snout shape & overall thin/bad padding).

On another note, I've been contacting some companies that has a link to this bike, first is Onward Cluthe. Basically, it's the company that produced the wedge frame's ''motorcycle'' fork caps, it apears that they are still making these exact caps & I just bought 10 pairs, each caps being at the whopping price of 0.48$. I'll get them next week.

Next contact was the Hudson bay Company, I made a lenghty message about this project and about needing some informations (due to a lack of info anywhere else..) and they actually acknowledged my message within the hour I've sent it, redirected my request to one of their historian (but have yet to receive a response from said historian). So that's something that happenned.

And that's it for now!
