This was my neighbor’s childhood bike. I am restoring it to be ridden by his children.

Here is a video I sent to the owner to get some feedback before I started.

We decided to skip the gyro and the pegs.

I cleaned up the hubs and rims and will rebuild with stainless steel spokes. The spokes are only 185mm. Any tips for building wheels with such short spokes? When removing a few to measure I had to bend them a lot to unlace them. I guess they need to be bent to lace as well??

Spray painting the stem. The paint was peeling off. This stem will not accept a gyro. Would need a hollow bolt and I couldn’t find one compatible with this stem. So it would require a new stem to add a gyro.

I found some repop spinner pegs on eBay, but they were too much for the budget.
Any suggestions on how to make them more white?

So far i have spent about $250 in parts. It adds up fast, but this will be an amazing bike for $250.

I just re-watched that video. Looks like the front brake was hitting the frame when I did the gyro demonstration. I hadn’t noticed that until now. The gyro might also require new front brakes.
