20" Schwinn Phanton?

Says Cadillac on the headbadge, serial number is 75, guy claims this was a bike Schwinn made in the 50's?

Cool little bike. rhender is gathering parts to make one soon. I'm selling him a 20" Schwinn springer. Chrome tank and chrome Rocket Ray will probably be pricey.

Anyone have a pic of an original 20" Phantom? Did they even make any? Gary

That's a good looking bike, but the price is upsetting. I guess he gets to keep it.

20" phantoms are all custom made, do get the correct springer you basically have to shorten a neck and shorten a set of legs and trusses. Even that one had the newer springer on it, the correct springer would have the pivot behind the legs, which they didn't make in that scale.
But it is possible to get a 20" deluxe bike. There are tanks and chainguards that are legit.

I actually almost told you that if you could get it cheap enough you could pay for a year of college tuition for what its worth. I guess I was pretty close!

There is supposed to be a decimal point behind the 75 right?? as in $75. dollars I hope??

Sorry just posted quickly, if you know Schwinn springers, the rear pivot springer would more correct for an early Phantom. Depends on the year it supposed to be.
The other reason why there is not any real phantoms is that there is ads or catalog images that have been posted. The are nice bikes, I like them. Just for some reason hot and pricey, but 7500.00 out of whack, more like 5500.00 at best. A restored real Aerocycle just sold for 6500.00 on ebay. I would much rather get that!!

did i miss something?? $5500 to $6500 for a bike..?? 2 wheels a frame and a chain...for $5500 ?? and being a 20" it's not ridable. So i have a 20" custom bike..one of a kind i will sell for $3200 look at the money you will save

yes you did miss something, it's called collectors and decorators, people driving up the price of things on ebay. It happens, I've been mainly just watching them. But there have been 20" Schwinns going from 2000.00 to 4500.00. If you have one and it fits the bill, or you need the money, you should unload it now.
And yes bike can cost all prices, just depended one who's buying.
I would NOT buy a new 12,000.00 Trek road bike, but I've seen them and people I know buy them. Same goes for certain vintage bikes.

Oh im well aware it happens and I will NEVER EVER understand it. Guess if i had more money than since I may understand it...NOOO..i really wouldnt on second thought. But if someone was DUMB enough to hand me that kind of money for a BIKE i wouldnt hesitate for one second. I may call the looney bin when you leave and have you picked up..then id go deposit that mony in the bank.

Its just mind blowing that people actually have a serious conversation about BIKEs that they think are WORTH this kinda money. And 90% of these so called old classics i see on here are not even big enough for a normal adult to ride. So if you want to stare at one..take a photo..blow it up and stick it on your wall
