I just need to put Durham, NC on my calendar this year and go, plan everything else around it, especially if it could eventually be cut, I'd hate to say "I'll just go in 2015" and then they cancel Durham (less than 2 hours away) or worse yet, just stop doing the tour.

Anyone want to ride with me in Durham?

It looks like it would be a good place to ride one of your freak bikes and wear that elf blanket!

Looks like the Nashville event doubled in size, and at just a quick glance, statistically grew more than any other single location in a one year period.....:crazy2:
And from what I could tell, had an abundance of local volunteers.....

Just thinking of other factors, maybe they lost their venue or maybe the city didn't like the event, maybe complaints? I'm not saying the event it bad, but you know, it only takes one person complaining sometimes to bring something down... even something good.

Boise almost lost their parade which means loosing Tour de Fat. They could not come up with a good parade route. Thankfully that has been solved.

That's interesting, it must be hard for ANY large city to make a decent parade route that will not impede the public for too long. If that's all it would take to lose the event, then I could understand that.

In all honesty last years route through Denver was terrible. If it is the same route this coming year I may not eve go though it is 10 minutes from the house.

If anyone wants to see how it is suppose to be done then you have to hit Ft. Collins, home of the brewery. The entire town shuts down and lines the streets. The ride alone takes 2 hours just because of the mass of those attending. It is truly an incredible sight.

Shots from last year.

Another issue could be naming rights/sponsorship. As we all know that seems to be the latest trend in advertising. Here in Dallas and surrounding areas, many of the spots big enough to pull off an event of this size are sponsored, or sold naming rights. As a result they aren't going the lease the space to a direct competitor, or just don't want to be tied to a beer company. Either way it is disappointing fact of life in this 21st century.

This is the reason I have not had a New Belgium beverage in over a year, they stopped doing Austin. That is obviously their right, but I exercise my right with my wallet.
