26x3 tire question

ok i am building a bike for my wife to be cause of the way gas prices are going. so the bike i am building houses 26 inch rims
and i was going to slap some 3 inch tires on the bike and i know that you have to widen some things but do you have to stretch it to if its a 26inch rim????

A 26x3 will probably not fit in an existing frame. It will fit in a triple tree fork as you can adjust the length.

They s q u e e z e into the rear end of a Schwinn balloon frame, but man it's close. The tire will also bloat when ridden.

If the bike is actually to be ridden I don't know that the 3" would be a good choice anyway. More effort involved in pushing those big tires around. I know my wife likes the middleweights because they're easier to ride.
