I am looking for some gearing recommendations.

The Mrs. Goodwrench BBO bike will have a 3 speed Nexus on it, what are any of you running for a front chainring?

I have a 39T I was thinking of using (because of the desing of it), but want to know what it may be geared like using that instead of a 42 or 44T...

FYI, it will be running 26X2.1 tires.

Your comments please.

I had a Nexus 3 speed on my Caloi cruiser and it originally came with a standard 44 tooth front sprocket. I felt like the low was not low enough and I rode around in that gear much of the time.

So I ordered a 39 tooth and swapped it out and I liked that combination much better.

It lowered all the gears - which gave it a nice low low, for easily going up inclines, a decent mid range for cruisin, and a lower high gear that I rarely used anyway.

I didn't want to go to fast and get blown off of the bike you know.

So I would say to go with the 39 tooth - especially if you like the design on it.

Thanks RRD, that's the kind of info I was looking for. :D
