Nice bike! You might double check your year though, the Spitfires were a straight bar frame until '57.

Good eye Udall. Since you called that, I did a little searching and I've referenced the link below for the production year by serial number (B38876).

Since the serial number has only 5 numerals, I think it's falls as early as March 1952 as this guide reads or as late as (as you said) January 1957.

Mine is a 24-inch. They too had straight bars until '57?

They re-issued your specific serial number for early March of '52, early October of '53, and late January of '57 (which is where I suspect your's falls).

Ah so...
It looked like a 'shopwindow'-reflection of the sunlight because of the shaddows surrounding the bike.
