I was contacted by the dude that wanted to buy it.
I let him know that I've decided to keep it.
He understood.

I'm due for another trip to Helotes Bicycle.
He says he has some new brake shoes for it.....from Pakistan maybe.
I've also heard you can soak old ones in paraffin to bring them back to life.
Haven't tried that one.

Hank at Helotes Bike also has a enclosed oil bath chainguard that matches my bike...pinstripes and all.
It is not for sale....or I can't afford it.


My Tourist is in very nice, but not perfect.

Be careful with the paraffin advice, if it came from a UK source, they're referring to kerosene. The more familiar meaning in the US is for canning wax, and it can also refer to mineral oil. All three of which would produce very different result on your brake pads :shock:

My money is on the kerosene, but I'd still want to have a replacement set of pads on standby...
