80s shark cruiser turned Electric boardtrack

My first build. A lot more work than I imagined because I'm new to building bicycles and some parts were irregular sizes etc. But I love riding it so far!

I found the frame on the curb. It had been rusting and the fork was completely bent. I replaced almost all the parts except a few things that we're salvageable. The tank bag is custom made with laminated wood paneling and 2 threaded rods bent over the top bar. It holds the battery and motor controller.

When I started, I was looking into a motor bicycle like derringer cycles but they were way too expensive. I decided to try to make an electric one based on them.

It still works great as a bike which is something I didn't expect. I thought it would be too heavy to pedal.

Let me know what you guys think. I've been seeing some great bikes on here and finally decided to share

ps. any one have any good ideas on building a brake on the rear? It had coaster brakes before but I can't use it with the rear hub motor. It does not have a brake crossbar and I'm not a welder either...thanks

as for the brake try searching suicide brakes...thats probably the easiest way to go if you dont plan on welding

Which hub motor is that? I thought you could provide braking via some of the nicer motor controllers?

Is there a fender tab mount? If so, perhaps you could use an old style long-arm side pull. I actually drilled a hole for that purpose on my old Columbia frame. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15894

@slacker- the hub motor is from ampedbikes.com. 36v 500w. the motor controller has no braking function, only a power cutoff.

@deorman- the frame does have a fender tab mount. I would have to figure out how to attach a "L" bracket so I can get the side pull brake to face the right direction. I wonder if will clear the chain and crank?...

What about the upper stay tube? Piece of angled plate, 2 holes? :|

that looks beautiful. ive always wondered what the other side of the wheel looks like on a cruiser system. i scored a set of 700c wheels with a much smaller motor in it. my plan was to build a old style road bike with the kit. my kit has a full cassette on the drive side... also id be interested to see the plugs that go from the controller to the motor.

the plugs from the controller to the motor are 3 bullet connectors and one 5 wire connector. I'm not familiar with other manufacturers so I can't say if this is standard or not or whether a different controller can be swapped.
