I just found an old mtb frame at Goodwill in my neighborhood last week. Might have to go grab it and get involved here on this ORBO

I didn't buy the 1987 Diamondback Ascent at Goodwill last week for $24.99, and today it was gone. I was so Jonesed for the build.

Yup. That's how I got the 5 bikes and frames I picked up in August for $350. Price was too good and said, yes, bring them now. 2 girls higgins with tanks, my ORBO bike, that cool 57 shelby and a boardtracker frame.

No offer is so good that a better one doesn't come along.

As the bike is going to be my mud bomber, I'm doing without gears and opting for disc brakes. They simply work better when it gets really wet and muddy. The mud here is like soap and also extremely sticky, so rim brakes are no good.

I have now put together everything I could find and so far everything fits without any problems. Only the fork is way too high, but I already have a plan B.

I love how you guys can buid frames and all kind of cool stuff.
Unfortunately I don't have the tools or the talent for brazing or welding (never learned it but want to in the future) so I hope it's okay if I get some help here.
If this is against the build off rules then of course I will not take part in the contest.

Don't worry about having to ask for help on welding and brazing bikes. I barely know how to do either myself (I just took a short hobbyist's mig-welding class last year,) but I have a couple friends who have the tools and talent I lack to modify my bikes as I like. As for breaking any rules, you only really got to worry about that during the summer Build Off, and even then they've got a class just for that, whether you're the one doing the cutting and welding or not. Everything else is fair game. Build the bike you want!

Thank you very much. You are almost right, that's a Hite Rite, basically the first take on a dropper post. By opening the QR skewer you can drop the saddle and when you open it again it pops up in the right position again. Interloc racing design later even made a remote for it but those are harder to find like diamonds.

I'm also thinking about learning to weld but you also need quite some stuff and with the few things I would weld I think I don't really need it.
But it would be cool to modify some frames...
