82 VECTOR MARK 2 BMX

Met up with a cool guy today for some good old fashioned Texas horse tradin'.

He was a factory rider for Vector in the early 80s and this was one of his team bikes. I had my Sun Spider listed in the Barter section of the local CL and he responded offering up his Mark 2 as a trade. He said that the Vector was actually a prototype bike built for him to race BITD. As far as I can tell, I don't see any serial numbers on the outside or inside of the rear drop outs or under the BB. Gotta love the frame design on these. The DK seat post clamp and Oakley grips are icing on the cake. Everything appears to be in really nice shape. He gave me the handlebar and stem pads as well.

Looking forward to cleaning this one up for the bike show in October.

I asked him a couple of times if he was okay with the deal and he said it was just a bike to him and he'd hung onto it long enough.

I did agree to give him first dibs if I ever decided to let it go.

Looks like a nice long TT on that one, should be a nice rider.

TT appears to be roughly 19.25" from center to center.

Nice find! I'd have had him autograph it before he left just to have the provenance on it.
