Say that five times fast.
I've been collecting parts to build a "strandie."
What's a strandie you ask? It's a cruiser from the late 70s and 80s that would have been ridden on The Strand in Southern California near the beach. Several of the BMX manufacturers back then offered a 26" BMX beach cruiser in their line up. Brands like Cook Bros., Laguna, Bassett, etc. were among the most popular.
I don't have that much cash laying around so I decided to build an econo version....after all, I do live in Dallas.
So I had all of the parts that I needed and I needed a frame and fork to finish the project. I put out a request yesterday for a 70s or 80s Schwinn Cruiser and someone I know locally offered a blue one up at a good price. I headed his way this morning and picked it up.
I also picked up a mint 1982 Murray Monterey for the Carlisle Lightning Dart tires and the Messenger seat. Tires are going on my Colorflow and the seat would be used for this project.
Spent the whole afternoon wrenching and ended up with this...
