Best I've been able to come up with is that there is no readily accessible database of AMF / Roadmaster serial numbers or even an understanding of the format they followed or where they were placed.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing on a 3-speed AMF Roadmaster "lightweight" that I picked up. My father has the same model of bike that he bought new, and was thought to be newer than the one I have. But his serial is on the drop out and mine is on the headtube. I haven't found anyone that can even tell what years had the serial placed where, much less if the numbers have any significance... :?

The NBHAA has amf factory info. BUT, the head of the one man operation, Leon Dixon, can be "difficult" to deal with (to say the least), and will charge for the info. -Adam

Its more of a curiosity I'm not going to pay to find out though that's stupid... The member I got the frame off of said he figured it may be late 50's but just be cool to know
