I have found and sold about 30 Raleighs this past year, I should have saved them all, I'd probably have the best collection of them. This one I found today is by far my favorite (so far), 28" wheels with redlines (made in Africa), rod brakes, bike lock (with key),attached to frame, best Brooks saddle I've seen, enclosed chainguard, only thing missing is the air pump. This thing rides like a dream, I just might have to join KOTA and OUTLAW on their manly women rides. The only # I found was under the crank 71401

Is it a single speed or 3. If 3 speed what date on rear hub? It is an early 2 part frame. The bars that run from the top of the seat post to the rear hub can come off.

Was the bike made in Africa or just the tires..Needless to say that is one nice bike..I dig that chain guard and the lock is cool to..Neat find..Jay

It is a single speed, freewheel, about the same size as a front hub

Interesting find. Doesn't look like it was intended for the US market. It might be a South African Raleigh.
You guys in New England are finding some killer Raleighs. They're scarce around here. Even common Sports models are hard to find.
