Looks like the only thing we will be driving by is a post office box in Hamilton Indiana. :x

Isn't that guy also on RRB under user name: old bikes? He hasn't been active here for a couple months.

Go talk really nice to the post master and explain the problem. They will reach under the desk and show you the card of the PO box holder and you will have your info.

I spoke with him on the phone earlier today. He said he would call me back with the delivery confirmation once he got to the shop. Never got a call. I will call tomorrow morning. If nothing starts to manifest after tomorrow I guess I will start talks with paypal. I hate to say it but I really don't think there is a delivery confirmation number. I would feel terrible if I went to paypal and days later the package arrived though. I'm not sure whether to just take the loss and learn from it, but it's $41, which is almost a week of gas money to and from work for me.

I kept asking for the delivery confirmation. Finally he said he will send it insured with ups and a tracking number. We shall see. If that happens, then I am forced to believe that usps was never used for the first 3 "attempts" and that he was scared into sending it as I escalated my requests. I have gotten several things in the mail since ordering this, some of which were items paid with paypal so I know paypal has the correct address.

Not looking good. He never provided a tracking number. September 18 is the deadline to start a complaint with paypal. I'm thinking of just asking him for an absolute time on him giving me the tracking number and letting him know that at that specific time I will either have the number so I can check it online, or I will go to paypal.

I would not wait anymore... if you know someone local ... call the majistrate for the area of his P O box..
and explain the issue, and request an order for the post office to proived the contact info for the P O box
but too much time has passed .. I would file with paypal now..

Yeah, I guess so. I wanted to at least wait til after the weekend to make sure it wasn't on its way. I had at least been able to catch him on the phone a couple of times, which gave me a little hope. But now he doesn't answer the phone . I'm going to wait until Wednesday I think. Then I will have to go ahead and get the ball rolling. I hate to go to that length, but at this point I feel he has just been stalling me to get past the 45 day window on paypal complaints. He was on thecabe on the 5th and didn't respond to any of my messages. No answers to emails, and my phone calls end in mid-ring so I know he is ignoring them. I didn't want to cast this stone but here goes: It is probably safe for me to say that if you are considering doing business with this person, DON'T.

LOL it would cost me $200 in gas for that. I just hate things like this. I even texted him asking for the tracking number. If he gave me a number and I punched it in online and it showed a package had even been dropped off at ups, I'd be happy.

Plus I want to make sure I give him every opportunity. I don't want to get things stirred up unneccessarily. In the event that he was honest, then paypal would have his account all tied up. The email for the paypal account was not a working one, so I imagine he sets up several accounts, then gets the money out so if it gets locked he just uses the next account.

I would make the drive .. I would spend the 200 ...even if it was only over 15... and the lesson learned would be that you
dont take advantage of me .. or my fellow ratrod brothers/sisters. ... I like my pound of flesh raw and fresh .... and I got
too much free time.... but still its very good of you to give him the chance... but when its been that long..

Yeah, I went ahead and opened the dispute. If he is sincere then maybe the message I sent through the dispute will help open a dialogue. If not I guess it gets escalated to a claim and let paypal be the judge. I have even spoken to my mail carrier and ups guy who both know me by name. No packages requiring signatures or any of that. I wish I had saved all of the emails I sent or could give paypal proof of my calls, texts, emails, etc. Oh well. If paypal is unable to get in touch with him then they will probably see it in my favor. I don't get it. Why risk losing the entire $41 I sent you when I offered to accept a partial refund. He should have jumped on that, it's free money.

Good news I guess. The tank arrived only 1 month and 14 days after purchase. After being supposedly sent 3 times through usps, and once through ups, it magically arrived through usps, delivery confirmation sticker and all. I guess a paypal claim is what it takes to make a transaction happen sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad it's here, but it got damaged in transit so I have some work to do now.

This whole situation seemed horrible from beginning to end, I guess being happy about the tank actually getting there helps soften the blow on the damage, but it seems to me that a better packaging job would've saved the day.

Yeah, it was just the tank half in a hackjob box. No packing material whatsoever and the side of the box got crushed in and messed up the tank pretty bad. I guess he was just mad that I called his bluff. It's kind of like returning a stolen car by dropping it from an airplane.
