I would venture to say neither

Doesn't meet the 2 of 3 rule for muscle and that rear tire does not scream off road 🤣
so just throw on a banana seat. it has ape hanger bars. they just have a top cross bar welded on.

so what class would this go in?

As Cap said, doesn't meet the two of three rule for MBBO...I'd have no problem seeing it in the ORBO as it is a BMX bike regardless of the unorthodox choice of skins.

Apehangers with a bolt or weld on crossbar or a banana seat and it would be MBBO worthy.

I may have another one in the wings... I just got back from picking this up.

A 1956(?) Schwinn Racer. I have an idea of what I want to do, but if you've followed my posts here, my ideas are subject to frequent change. It's rattier than I was expecting, but that kind of opens the door to some non-stock things I'm thinking about.

Give me a day or two to decide if I'm going to embark on this one now, or wait until later.

Ok, I've thought about it.

I have no idea if this one will get finished in time, but I'd like to start a thread before I tear it down, to keep all the info in one spot. I may as well do it in the Skinny section of the Build Off? If it's not finished I'm assuming the thread gets moved so later updates can still be made? Or it just keeps getting updated where it is but is shunned in the completion thread stuff? Or maybe someone takes away my birthday?

I'll risk it. The chances of it being painted in time are slim to none, but I'm ok with building it up first and this is a ratbike forum, so I should be spared the pitchforks when it ends up a little on the lived in side of things.

Skinny tire build thread coming up...

You can start building it at your leisure and if you don't finish it in time are you decide that you don't want to try and cram it in by the deadline just ask one of us moderators and we can always move it into being a regular build and out of the competition. If you leave it in the journals then once this whole section gets archived it will move with it. Still accessible, just down in the archives

when is the deadline to finish builds?

Adding to that. it does not seem capable for off-road use even beyond the phatty slick in back.

  • This is not a build-off for your everyday cruiser, perfect restoration, or your ride to the shops bikes... This is for bikes that are meant to be ridden hard and fast, jumped, skidded and abused in an OFF ROAD setting!
