Some of the springer parts don't look as bright as the rest of the chrome, best you pick up one of those fancy real shiny brandy new Chiney made springers and send that old dull one down the road preferably to zip code 12206 we have a wonderful recycling program here. It is a real bummer because the rest of the chrome looks so good hahahahaha

Give me a chance to polish it first before I decide. But I'll keep your very generous proposal in mind.

Sometimes I don’t do well at “before” pictures. These hubs were a mess. Luckily the parts were in good shape. They just needed a series of degrease and evaporust soaks, then a good polishing.

That is alright, we know how gunky the 'before' shots are, we really want to see how good you get those parts to be.

My kids are 12 and 9 and have developed a taste for spicier things like BBQ or Salt and Vinegar chips my days of Pirates booty might be coming to an end, I have eaten more of it then I care to remember. I grew up with 5 older brothers and 4 sisters (2 older 2 younger). Not a lot of things I will not eat. Really looking forward to seeing this bike get built back up.

Sanded the frame smooth with 220 grit then hit it with a couple of coats of etch primer, then sanded that with 600.

Next I’ll hit it with a couple coats of build primer, smooth out some minor issues with 400 grit, then a few more coats, topping it off with a light touch of 600 grit.

It’s raining today, but I knocked down the first round of build primer. And this shows how imperfect these frames really are, even a Schwinn.

And I’m trying to think of the future of this bike, so that the owners great great grandkids can still date the frame. If you saw in the original pics, the “H” wasn’t stamped very heavy. So I acetoned the primer off and used a dental pick (a very handy bike tool) to dig out the letters and numbers so they can be seen easier.

I’ll hit it with a light coat of primer at the end.
