This is one of those builds thats been a long time coming. I've been collecting parts for this for awhile. Here is the deal. Unless someone smarter than me can help me post pics from my dumb phone I'm enlisting crash to help out. Pics will be along soon. Its a Hodgepoge for sure

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

Thanks crash ill try not to annoy you too much with a lot of pics like I said. Well this is just me throwing parts around but two are staying. If the fork looks familiar it should its off the galt town hooligan. The rear fender is too its an evens squared off deal and is actually the front. It just fits so well. Oh and sorry for the black and white pics it looked much better on the phone

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

I love the curved seatube on those frames!

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

I do need some opinions though. First I too love these frames other than one thing. The top of the seat post tube bugs me I was thinking of cutting it off and make a fill panel. Then possibly do a bobber mc seat. I want it tucked to the fender for sure. My other issue and the biggest is paint. This frame has neat patina but its not quite there for me. I will take some color pics so you guys can see. I'm surprised no one yelled at me for taking the hooligan apart but I plan to redo that one down the road. Hmmmm build off?

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

Its all up to you, I wouldnt cut that off though.

Like the look. Much different than the build Im doing with the same frame currently. Ill have to post some updated pics once I get the rear wheel Im cleaning up back together.

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

If ya want a post, let me know, I'd do it for the cost of materials and shipping, just to keep ya from cutting. But it really isnt hard, you can use solid steel rod from the hardware store (they carry the correct diameter) and a propane or map gas torch to heat it and bend it.

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

I love elgins! Aha such nice bikes and such a nice build so far!
Keep at it

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

I was looking at it again and yea I'd regret it down the road. What about the paint I have seen guys sand og paint somewhat smooth then clear it.

Re: speed ball (41elgin rat)

I think the finish depends on your vision. That is a neat patina that you could sand/clear, and then work your pinstripe magic over it. But, a new finish would look good as well. I don't know what you are going for.
