Imagine my surprise when my brother-in-law told me that he and my father dug out an old bike from the recesses of the barn behind my grandparent's old house...
Had no idea this was even there, and my grandparents might not have known either, it's possible it had been there since before they moved in, in 1955. It was against the wall behind some scrap metal.
frame is pretty rusty, but may be salvageable... I just left it behind for now, it's safe, but not taking up any more of my dwindling room. It would need to be sandblasted or something.
I was really only after a couple of parts:
these are the parts that ended up in the trunk of the rental car to come back to CT with me...
not bad for a bike that was on my family's property my whole life...
There was also these tricycles, and I plan to take the better parts from both and fix up a nice vintage cruiser for my baby nephew:
so that was two weekends ago, this past weekend I was back in Rochester and picked up the bike I am using for the build-off and on my way back stopped in Albany to see my brother, he had something to put in the backseat on top of the other bike:
the chrome FleetWing Mariner was on loan in Rochester, and now it's mine again so that I can use it in the build off.
the Schwinn Collegiate was on craigslist in Albany, and my brother went and picked it up for me, and held onto it until I could come visit.
To use Hugo's code... I think I had to trade a kidney for it or something like that
so, when is the proposed muscle bike build off? because I have a good idea for a 26" Fastback...![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
and last, but not least:
I bought this project from Joe a little while ago, he was nice enough to bring it down to Bristol for me
and hang out for a bit and help me knock back a few and disassemble the Luxury Liner.
Joe was also trying to talk me into using the chrome Luxury Liner tank on the older frame (which has a different tank),
but although it looks cool, I think I will be keeping it mostly original.
Thanks again Joe for the extra parts![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
