So... This is a west coast chopper Jesse James bike that I picked up at some used junk store for $50.
And as you can see it was in rough rusty shape - most of the existing parts found the recycling bin .
Made a custom sissy bar - cut the seat post extension off - found some cool parts off a donor bike - and a little flat black - although not completely finished its close - it'll need a few refinements yet , I may or may not do a better job with the paint, still have to trim the steerer tube , and the tank will go back on after it's been painted in a contrasting colour.
But like most of my bikes it's likely I'll change my mind along the way -lol- seems to be how these things go .

Still sorting this one, but cleanup is all done.

Wow, what a transformation. Super work...and lots of time I bet.
I don't know what's more fun, cleaning them up, or riding them....
I perused your album on Photobucket...curious did you repaint some of the 'black' paint...by hand. And the rust that was so prevalent on the chrome...lots of hand work I suppos?e, or is it new chrome parts....:43:
Just me...always wondering how you guys do these wonderful clean ups

Thanks! I didn't do any painting on this one. I have 5 hours just cleaning the rust off the wheels... Since the chrome was so rusted on this one, I attacked it with a brass wire brush and marvel mystery oil. In some circles it's frowned upon to use anything but spit shine on chrome because steel wool and brushes scratch it, but in this case anything I did was better than nothing. On the paint I used 3M one step polish and a micro fiber towel.

I agree about not being able to decide which is more fun, building or riding. I enjoy the build so much leading up to the ride and all rides after that are a reminder that "I built this".

I agree L'ratrod....I'll use some mechanical cleaning...wire brush, brass wheel on chrome as well. There's rust that is even and powdery, and a little sanding, wiping and clear coat is beauty...but caked on ummm..'ugly' rust...yes, anything is better than nothing....
I love yours...I think it's my fave on this thread.....

actually started with just the frame, Bri-in-Ri parted out the road master replica and I got the frame for a great price, fork is off one of those OCC things cut down to just fit a 26" wheel, 26x2.5 hookworms on a pair of old mountain bike rims laced to a bendix manual 2-speed
