Its because its hard to find a ''real'' table anymore. Compressed particle board and laminated press board is far too common in furniture nowadays. Real wood handmade stuff fetches a small fortune anymore.
My old lady looked at me like I was weird cause I wanted to strip, sand and refinish my table after it got stained and scratched. Dam kids and this throwaway society we've come to live in.
