We want to take our bikes on a road trip. We a looking at bike racks that mount to the spare tire of our Jeep Liberty because it doesn't have a trailer hitch. I have a men's 26" cantilever cruiser. Any suggestions on a rack?

Thanks for your time.

Have you thought about getting a hitch installed? I don't have a clue what it costs but I think a hitch mounted rack of some kind would work better.
agreed, and I got the bars that connect to the seat post and neck (so you don't schmultz up your top tube paint). Whole setup works really well!

In Aug. 2010 I bought a two bike hitch mount rack off Amazon (http://www.netcityshops.com) that has fold down arms with wheel pocket loops and well padded 'J' rods that click down on the toptube to lock in, This thing is a WAY better than those typical racks and way easy to use. Ive used it for everything we have, including my longgg Micargi Royal.
I love it, and highly recommend it!!! (it wasnt all that expensive either).

I loved my plate style clamping Swagman.. just a single, center clamp that screws on about 4" wide. It's the most stable I've ever felt my bikes. It was on my Wrangler and mounted behind the spare tire. The Liberty has a rear mounted spare too doesn't it? I'm selling mine if you're interested as I'm selling the car. 50$ +shipping.

When I have an oddball frame, I just turn them fork down and mount it vertical by the seat tube 8)
