That's one pretty blue bike you've got there! Really cool to see how effective an O.A. bath is at bringing back the colors! How ratio of oxalic acid to water do you use? I've been meaning to test it out on some of my own bikes, but I'm afraid of messing up.

thanks! I really don't have a ratio, I just dump some wood bleach powder in the bucket of parts and pour in enough water to cover them. time is the other variable, if you leave it too long you get a nasty yellow coating on the parts that's hard to get off

I got the wheels assembled yesterday, still got a few days work, gotta reassemble and grease the hubs, then true the wheels, then I can mount tires and see what else fits and what doesn’t….

I found this seat at a swap meet a couple years ago with no idea what bike I was gonna use it on, then bought a pair of Thompson grips that match. I think they’ll go well with the white accents on the blue bike. I’m gonna try to swap the seat frame with this one from my Westfield parts donor, so they both came apart and went into the wood bleach bath then I scrubbed the top, hopefully have time to put it together in the next couple days

I still need to true the wheels but I assembled and greased the hubs, this is my color combo. I’m still debating wether I want black or white tires, probably be a last minute decision…

The girl’s Westfield that gave up its rims for this bike also donated a fender. I had to scrub off the gold spray paint, hammer and dolly the dents and creases and cut it to the size I wanted, but it’s a great color match and the bolt holes even lined up!

got the wheels trued next and decided on black tires cuz I had some in the pile, so here’s where I ended up tonight

Thank you, bought a small bench top band saw and belt sander years ago, they come in handy for bicycle parts

I found this kickstand at a swap meet, no idea what kind it is, but it works good, fits the bike and tucks in tight

mounted the stem next, some old cruiser bars from the pile, and the crossbar from some bent dirt bike bars with the black wire wheeled off

starting to look like a bike…
