Cool story that he rides his original bike :D but I don't know about them taking it and doing what they did

I wonder what happened after the camera crew left.

"Where are my original rims?!

They mentioned an all american bike, but I'll bet those were chinese wheels they put on. I would be headed to the bike shop to get my wheels back, or have them rebuilt. It was probably a red band bendix.

It was nice of them though, and the new seat is probably a big improvement.

I have a 53 Schwinn Meteor I ride a few times a month. I didn't know it was a Meteor til I got the info from this website. I've had it for about 30 years, it survived me being gone in the military for years and the only thing original is the frame and seat stem, but it looks all there and the 2 speed kickback is great fun to ride. As for my first bikes, when I traveled through my hometown in Ohio 2 years ago, I stopped in all the thrift stores actually hoping to find one of my bikes from 40 years ago. lol. I hadn't been there since 1973. The wife thought I was just looking for parts. Even any old bike frame would have been great to take back and rat out. Nothing turned up, even for a souvenier.

If that kid had never seen a Typhoon before, then I venture to guess he had never seen an old Schwinn before. Typhoons seem to be the most common men's model that I run across.
