Well it was nice enough to ride today so I took this thing out and decided to get the build process going. I intend to do a resto/custom/rat job to it. Clean what I can, modify what I can't and preserve the original finish by cleaning it and shooting it with a few coats of clear lacquer. I just can't replace the original stickers with expensive repops. I already spent $90 on this thing for the last NOS seat and chainguard probably in existence, grip tape and the bike itself, I don't plan on spending a lot more.
Here's the bike with new seat and chainguard
The fork that needs TLC. Sad thing is I had a NOS fork like that lying around for 5 years and I tossed it some time ago.
This issue will have to be addressed. I know a friend who deals with a good welder that can fix this.
The stripped frame ready for clean up.
