Is this guard a generic Wald or is it from some pre war CWC or Hawthorne or something? I don't have a clue. Gary

To the best of my knowledge, that is an aftermarket guard.

I agree. I know the later Walds had a big flat spot on them but the ones I'm used to seeing on the Hawthornes had bigger ribs to them. I would guess it's an early universal guard myself.

Usually, the aftermarket guards have extra holes for adjusting the brackets for different frames. I know I've seen that one before, but on what, I don't remember!!! -Adam

Stir your brain up Adam! Don't even remember where it came from. I'll probably put it up for sale. Gary

I can't post pictures on this site. But it looks dangerously close to the chainguard on a prewar Huffman Dixie Flyer that's currently on CL. I also found another Dixie Flyer with this chainguard on the CABE, but neither one of these bikes are original paint, so I can't say for sure.

If CL images are no longer available, contact me and I'll send them to you along with the CABE photo.

UPDATE: I just found another one in original paint on ebay, so I'd say it's a safe bet that your chainguard is off of a prewar Huffman Dixie Flyer.

Thanks Mark. I'm guessing a Dixie Flyer guard is worth a few more bucks than a Wald.;) You made my day. Gary
