Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

Looking really good. That gray will be a nice accent. Looking forward to seeing what it's like when it's done.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

Looking good man, just a word of the wise. I have been in the custom paint and body business for most of my life. Please stop washing down with Varsol, you have a very good chance of encouraging the paint to peel or not adhere. Varsol is a petroleum base, almost like washing down with oil. Use a good wax and grease remover available at your local jobber store. Color is sort of cool, I painted a 50's custom '56 Buick convertible almost the same shade for a friend some years back... Where in Canada do you do your shoveling, I'm east of Toronto?

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

I'm just n hour and a half North of you guys... I have family in Milton that I see a couple times a year.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

Nothing I've seen but I'll keep my eyes open for anything of interest. You do good work, I'd be happy to let you know if I come across something.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

Hey man that's really cool you're doing your first rust bucket for your girl. It's looking great so far. I don't see a response for what ever happened to the child seat... so... ???? I hope you put it back on the bike it'll look great on the bike.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

No the child seat will not be going back on the bike, she doesn't want it on there. It's still in my garage and there has been some interest in it. It's complete except for one attachment bolt, easy Home Depot find.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

Coming along great - it's going to be sweet, and she's going to love it. 8)

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

are there holes in the fender for one? or is that what you prefer? cuz i have a light you might want, its not fender mounted though.

Re: Christmas Rat for the gf.

My girlfriend is going to be home for good as of today, so I took the finished pics with what weather I have, loaded and deleted the pics off the camera. The seat is not staying on the bike, it was just for some test rides before the snow hit. Rides like no store-bought Chickity China bike ever will. Topped the build off with some crazy red vintage grips, wide cruiser bars, aluminum stem, Kenda WWs, vintage streamers and smiley face air caps. Building a bicycle from the ground up has been a frustratingly awesome experience to say the least. This build also gave me something to do while getting through the hardest weeks of quitting smoking :D From an old crusty, rusty and busted old beast, to shiny and awesome new bike for an amazing girl. Thanks for looking, many more builds to come down the road. Cheers, and Merry Christmas! Jordan.

Very well done indeed! Good job on quitting smoking too, I hear it's hard to do. (I've never had a problem quitting for some reason.) I'm sure she'll love it.
Cheers! Merry Christmas to you too.
