I know that coaster brakes are probably considered to be antiquated technology by manufacturers and on new bikes they seem reserved for only lower end machines. But it would seem to me that with the single speed, lean machine trend that a someone would manufacture a high quality coaster brake. It would certainly be not only a clean install it would be economical as well. Imagine what Chris King could turn out. Even if the guts from an existing coaster brake could be installed in a new aluminum shell that would be a huge improvement, maybe a titanium brake arm while they're at it.

Well shimano makes a pretty good coaster brake in aluminum for the nexus rear hubs.

OOPS, I forgot about that  I even have a couple.

A Chris King hub would be expensive. Has anyone tried putting a better grade of bearings in the hub.
