As of now, this is next up on our list.
The Coasters will be participating in the city of Belle Plaine's Tulip Time festival which runs April 13-15.
On the 14th we'll ride in the parade and put on a kustom and classic bike display.
The parade lineup will begin at 11am at the corner of 10th and Main.

This is something new for us. Gives us a chance to share our kustom and classic bikes to a different town and group of people.

More info on the festival http://www.belleplainechamber.com/tuliptime/

Cameron will we set up bikes for the show before the parade or after? Any other details you can share?

Here's some info I found....

DECORATED BICYCLE CONTEST
WHEN: SATURDAY, APRIL 14 – All entries are required to participate in the
TULIP TIME 2012 PARADE at 12 Noon. The 2012 theme is “………”.
It would be helpful if parents of preschoolers would accompany their
children in the parade. We would prefer they ride all the way through the
parade, however, if necessary, children may drop out at 5th and Linden.
Parents must be available to pick up their children at this time & location
if they drop out of the parade.

JUDGING: 11:30 a.m., open area at northeast corner of 10th and Merchant.
PLEASE BE ON TIME!!

I am in contact with the event organizers. They have been a bit tight lipped through emails so far. I am going to call them tomorrow or make a trip to Belle Plaine and talk to them in person if I have to in order to get the details.

They asked me about how much space they needed to set aside for us. How much do I need to ask for, Randy?

I run in to this a lot. Event organizers wanting to know how many of us will show up.I don't have a clue. I never have any luck getting Coasters to rsvp or commit to anything we do so I never know. Just take a guess and we'll make it work.

I'll be there. Anyone else here want to commit?

I'll probably bring 3 or 4 bikes.

Ok so it sounds like in addition to us riding in the parade there will be kids with decorated bikes riding.
And the decorated bikes contest is just for kids.

Oh and we were at Michaels craft store today and I seen the had fake tulips if anyone wants to decorate.

I will commit... But will just be bringing the bike I am going to ride.... 8)

Taxes are done, but you got the right idea. :D

And Randy... I always wear the pants.

when she lets me

I just found out tonight I have a family reunion (Nova's side) in Oklahoma that day :x
So I don't know if I'll get to go or not. These kind of conflicts never used to happen to me that I recall. This year so far it's St Patrick's Day and now this.
I guess I should practice what I preach. I recall somewhere I posted that people need to have their friends and family check the Coasters Calendar before making any plans.
I need to get this put up front on Coasters page and on Facebook.

You know maybe these conflicts did happen before but that was when I wore the pants

I just got off the phone with one of the event organizers. We have been given the center parking area on Merchant St between K-55 to 5th St. The street will be pedestrian traffic only with the stage set up on the north end. They ask that we be there by 9:00 to set up. I am going down to look the area over and talk with them in person early next week. I will get details on parking, street closures, and any other information that needs to be passed on. I said we would have 40-50 bikes there, don't make me a liar.

Well unless a miracle happens I won't be there. I'm committed now to going to reunion. Don't get me wrong, my in-laws are great people. Normally I'd ask my parents to fill in for me but they're going with us. That's how great my In-laws are. They always include my folks.

Anyway, Cameron I'll post again on Facebook and send out an e-mail here soon. I'll wait a bit in case you have more info.

I hate to hear that you can't make it, but I understand.

Here is the long and short of the event as far as our involvement-

The bike display will be along Merchant Street from K-55 to 5th Street. We will be set up in the center parking lanes on the street since it will be pedestrian only Saturday. They asked that we try to be set up by 9am.

The Parade ride line up will be at 11 am at the corner of 10th and Main. Judging will be at 11:30 so please try to be there by then. The parade will begin at noon.

After the parade we will head back to the display area and hang out until 2pm or so.
