I checked out the CABE today, after spending some time here. A fellow suggested checking Ebay for coke bottle grips to fit modern handle bars. They are sold for Harleys. I went to Ebay, through RRB, of course, and found grips for under $10 & FREE shipping! A highly reccomended seller to boot. I like visiting the CABE once in a while. Lot of knowledgeable folks there, and that's how I found out about RatRodBikes. As a shut-in this site has become a big part of my life, and I visit several times a day. Thought I'd share the resources.

That was me who suggested it on the CABE Elmer. Been on both today too LOL. Too hot & humid in GA to do anything else. Found them while searching for vintage ones for my 30' Hartford. Guess I shoulda posted it here too. BTW, I found a great clothespin for my Babe Ruth card accessory. I'll post pics soon.

Gary Mc: Glad you found a pin for your Ruth card. A lady is supposed to bring me a couple, but she lives pretty far away. I was going to get your address & send you one. When the weather is decent how's the bike coming? Love the work you've done with the headbadge.

Elmer, bike progress is slow. Too hot to work on it so in part's search mode for now. Found a troxel saddle and gooseneck in last few weeks. Posted pics on the build site (both CABE-Pre-1933 & here). Searching for appropriate original pedals, grips, and drop stand. The more I work on it the more I think it will go back as original as possible. May try to polish out the rear fender & frame tomorrow but depends on the heat. Was going to re-chrome everything chromed, but now even rethinking that. This bike seems to keep saying to me, go original and I keep telling it well I didn't get all the original parts LOL. Funny as this was originally going to be a rat rod cruiser when I bought it but what I got seems to be too nice, too rare to go that direction. Hope you are doing well.

Hope everyones' builds are going as well as they can- considering the heat. I'll post photos of the grips when they arrive, clothes pin, too.
Work on Evelyn is progressing slowly. I'm in AC, but a carpeted appartment presents its own set of problems. She is turning into a board track racer. Grips on order. Rat traps here. Tires & tubes from Chimichanga.
Toying with the notion of relacing the wheels so I can paint the rims & get the hups cleaned up over the sink, instead of using degreaser in the tub & masking 72 spokes.
A friend takes me to his wood shop once in a while. Last visit I got a nice oval number plate cut out. Slow & steady. I have more time than money, like most members.
This is a great group & a great site. It really helps & inspires an old man with limited mobility. Thanks to everyone !

Just read my original post: Rat Rod Bikes . com has become a big part of my life. The Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange (CABE) is a great reference and info source, but the guys (and girls) here are more fun.
