Conqueror?

So one of my local vintage bicycle shops has, buried deep among piles of bikes, a red bike called "Conqueror". It looks british to me but other than that I have never seen a bike like this before. They guy told me he did not have any British bikes so I was really excited to see that. Anyone know about them? I heard they are basically a cheap Raleigh. Is that true?
Any info is welcomed.

I think AMF had a bike called that but I'm not sure.

Yeah what little info I could find was that AMF most likely made it.

Theres a photo of a Conqueror banana seat bike on this page from 1968 http://bikerodnkustom5.homestead.com/br ... ory68.html, looks like it might have been made in Portugal.

Royce Union (Japan) made a banana seat bike called a Conqueror too.

Lot of cool info on that page, I think its awesome that pretty much all the muscle bikes were themed around cars, hotrods and dragstrips, man, I miss the old America. Thanks for sharing.

That bike is awesome. I would not have left the store without it if that was the bike I saw. lol
The bike I saw at the store was a diamond frame mens, red, had a very cheap looking red and white seat that I do know is original. It has a colorful headbadge that says Conqueror and the chain guard bares the name aswell. It also had one of those giant headlights on it.

Man if only they'd start reproducing all that stuff now days. I'd love to have a few of those top fuel forks, those tall sissy bars with back rests, shifters, chutes, wheelie bars, steering wheel, heck just put me down for two of everything.

That would be awesome, only now in spineless greedy America we would have the Chinese make them. The Union forced all the big businesses to China.

Yeah and no offense to you hard working union members out there but I know lots of cases where the union has fought to keep jobs for a bunch of lazy people that should have been let go years ago AND gets them MORE pay. Or ones that go on paid "Sick leave" every 3 months. I know a guy who works at Delco here putting buttons and face plates on radios all day and takes a Game-boy to work every day to keep busy. :roll: Not to mention he makes $18 something an hour and gets full medical. I'd do that job for minimum wage and no benefits and be happy. As would a lot of people.
