HATE to be a bubble burster.... I know your going for a set but, the bmx just looks like a bmx with a tall seat post. It's cool but lots of fabbing for an off the shelf bike. It needs something to set it apart...don't know what tho.

Carl.

Drew up another mock-up for the next build, this one is more traditional MTB/BMX inspired:

I think it may look better than this one?

The first frame is more simple, while the second one appears complicated and fights with the wheels for attention... What do you guys think?

Luke.
The top one looks like it would be the stronger of the two and has a cleaner look. You could even build to look like it has a rear suspension setup, which would give the frame some character I think you were trying for in the bottom mock up.

I like the criss cross moto cross much better. Reminds me of an off road Moulton

This is steal, pvc or rubber ? hard to see and guess
Nylon bushings for leaf springs.

Thanks for the opinions guys, I am liking the Moulton look, which coincides with another mock-up I am working on, a spaceframe style...

Whichever way I end up going, I will start by building the forks first, that way I get an idea of what style will work with them.

I now have over 20 different mock-ups drawn up, but I think I have found one I really like:

:rockout:

It will require more effort to build of course with the curved frame, but it looks like it would be well worth it!

Yeah I like that last one too. has a mean looking forward stance to it... NOT off the shelf.

Reminds me of an Electra Ghost Rider or Rat Fink frame.

Yeah, liking that!

I just realised where I had seen a similar style of MTB before, the Trek Broadsider:

The one I have drawn up is a bit smoother and more cruiser styled, but I am really liking some of the lines on the Broadsider, might have to blend the two...

You could extend the double straight bars back to a rack like the Columbia Firebolt.

Actually that is a single straight bar and the toptube/seat stays are double... ;)

Realised my sizing was a bit off on the first BikeCad try, so did it again, this time a bit longer, taller and better angles, better suited to someone my size, but still small enough to be thrown around:

By the way, if anyone is using BikeCad, do yourself a favour and open it in Internet explorer rather than Chrome or whatever else you use, much faster and no Java lock-ups!

Progress today: Nil... Was once again planning to finish the metal finishing on the Joker build but it is just too cold!!!

Luke.
