Custom light build

Wasn't sure where to post this. I did this a few months ago, never got around to posting it. I stared at this light for quite a while trying to figure out how to make it usable.

As found: Missing front trim, lens, and internals. Time to convert to LED!

Found these washers that fit perfectly

Drilled out the rivets

Sanded the top of washer flat to match light, drilled through both washers and riveted on

Smaller washer inside

Little bit of putty

Wire it up

Finished painting

2 years later and she finally has a light!

The hole in the washer was the perfect size for the flashlight, so I could use the whole front of the flashlight including the lens, so that solved that problem

Hope this helps someone fix an old light they have laying around

nice job. Those washers are for filling in a too large hole in an electrical box. Called "donuts" in the industry. I take it those are 3/4ID?.,1 1/4"od?

Crash, a 3 or 5 LED flashlight works better,WAY better and brighter than any incandescant bulb light. I have several I have altered to fit bike lights, and they excel at lighting the path.

It's super bright. This one is a 9 led. I have a 32 led on my bike, its like a car

Those 9 LED flashlights are pretty good for the price. I picked up a pack of four with batteries for $6. I put one on either side of my stem and one I'm either side of my grips for a total of 4 headlights. I strap them on my commuter with elastic bands. Sharp lookin' bike by the way. I love monochromatic style color schemes.

Yes they have. I still have 22 left, gotta build more lights!!

Awesome rebuild of it! Very convenient tme for me too,as you know I just picked up an AMF/RM that has one of these (in need of a rebuild). Nice job you don eonit too :mrgreen:

Here are the inside pictures (Finally!)

I sanded a small piece of wood until it was the right height to hold the flashlight up, and hot glued it in place. Then glued the flashlight piece on top and to the front of the light. I wrapped the battery case and wires in an old intertube to prevent arching. And I ground out the rear switch hole to fit the bigger toggle switch in.
