OK...so I needed a daily bike (not my ratrod) to use and since I'm working on the "Coconut Runner" why not build another one.
Since I grew up in SoCal...I have had a vibe for a beach cruiser. Driving home I saw a used beach cruiser (not a Schwinn) for sale $40!!! Yup.

PLAN:
weld some horizontal bars that stretch back over the rear wheel, about 48" long
knock down existing paint to accept new paint: medium grey
new/old rims (orange) and tires
change handle bars to beach cruiser style
clean seat and re-use
re-use cranks and pedals
1-2 days

UPDATE!!!!

Thanks guys!
The beer will be on the NEW back rack of the bike!
....! Wish I could make the Pour House!!!

05/12 I did all the metal fabrication: 5-6 hours, went passed 9:00pm into the night...
The welds are not dressed and they are going to stay that way! HA!!! :x "for me to poop on!"
Painting was performed at night....hence the poor frame and fork prep!!!
The side tube ends will get a chrome 5/16" acorn nut :D
The rear center tube will get a red LED brake light :D :D
Today I had to apply a second coat of paint...medium grey DONE :D :D :D
The rear rack was not the best design but I was tired and sleepy

I did a test mock-up with the rims...I'm thinking I'll paint the rear rim to match (orange) the front.
Brown seat? Keep the black?

$40 = bike
$10 = paint
$0 = metal...I had it laying around
$2 = rear rim...the original rim had 30% of the spokes cut! why?

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have it running!!!

UPDATE:

I had an unexpected busy Saturday morning and didn't get into the shop until 3:00pm.

1. prep'd wheels for paint
2. painted both wheels (orange)
3. cleaned accessory/parts: pedals, bolts, nutz, etc.
4. home by 6:45pm :D

Hopefully I will have everything wrapped up by tomorrow, pending rain, bay to breakers traffic and hang-over.

Now for a glass of wine....oops! BEER!

Cheers and happy riding!

The above bike was accomplished in 3 days (3-4 hours per day)

Still to do list:
Cover seat (old or recycled from a brown leather jacket...$10 at the most!)
The minor imperfections in the paint will be nicely covered with orange electrical tape or stickers
maybe old skewl handle bars?
