safe and secure in CT now. Waiting delivery at the Monson Swap Meet. Dan this thing is cool. There's chrome on those fenders under the paint far as I can tell. He gave you another set of handlebars and stem and a rack too.

you got your work cut out for you Dan.

Danimal may have his work cut out, but for $39 its still a bargain. That rack looks like a schwinn ballooner. Its almost worth what he paid for the bike.

Nice CHEAP find.
Free Pickup
and showing Uncle Stretch another bike with burgundy and aqua.

Cheap bike indeed. I like it!!! This will be my first "resto", but will not be stock. Btw, anybody got a fork that will fit this?

Many thanks to Ian for picking this up for me, for the cost of gas only. He is one of the many great people on this board. :D :D :D

Dan

What is the matter with the fork.... There is no bent fork disease, that is how I have seen a few others. I don't know the reasoning but that is the way it came from the manf.

I don't know about BFD (Bent fork disease) can you elaborate :D :?:
Sure looks tweaked to me.

Really?

I can't say I've ever seen a fork like that but I will yield to the experts here.

We probably need Crassly or RMS37 to elaborate. I have just seen a couple of examples here on the board.

the forks are bent too perfectly to have been done in an accident in my opinion. I was thinking soon as I saw the bike last night that they were mfd that way. Anyone know for sure? Hey Dan you owe you for the 26 toll booths I had to go through too. I'm exaggerating, but there were a lot of tolls.

I was really glad to go fetch this thing. I like driving. I'm a chauffeur part time.

Absolutely. add the toll money to my bill and let me know how much. I can PP you, send you cash, or pay at Monson. Let me know and thanks again!!!

The ones in Fsjaaks thread do look factory. On this bike it sure looks like someone crashed and then turned the stem/bars 180 degrees and spun the fork around so the fender would clear the downtube. The only reason I say this is becuase I have had a couple of bikes with badly bent forks that the PO used this reverse stem technique on.

It just looks like the forks are on backwards.

Take out the stem and spin 'em around.

Well, it seems the forks may or may not be bent.

Ian has the bike at his house and I won't get it till Monson. I guess I'll hold off on my judgement until I get it home.

I'm still unsre what I want for forks on this build. I may try and find a set of truss bars for the original fork (if it's not bent). Perhaps put a springer on instead?

Dan

I got a beautiful set of Colson truss rod forks that would be perfect on this bike. Can you have ian measure the headtube and let me know. I have to dig them out tomorrow and I will measure them. If I remember correctly they were somewhere between a mens and women's length. Maybe 7 and 1/4" or 7 even. I know they weren't the reguular 6 3/8" though

now that is ratty cool! rollfast? thats why it kinda looks like a hawthorne, too. (hp snyder built both) i like it. as for the forks, i +1 the bent and rotated 180 degree theory. my forks on my steyr 3speed looked that way untill i just spun them back 180 degrees and they were fine, no bends.
