Congrats to the son on his new house. That is a big accomplishment nowadays.
Caps are coming in nicely.

Life has been busy, and the summer is hot, but got to the trimming and capping of the main tubes to head tube connection. All major welding done. Some cleanup to go, and decide how/if to paint. Then put some bicycle parts on and ride.

(got sweaty and didn’t take pics of the finished caps, so, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Don't forget to cross the finish line (and Finished Thread) in the next 6 days!!!

Hope this build 'flight' hasn't been delayed....

"Ground control to Pilot John..."

Still in it… just got busy with more important things in life. (Elder care.) The weather isn’t going to cooperate for painting, so looking into the BLO methodology. Also, most of the parts got delayed, so I’ll have about 1-1/2 days for final assembly.

- if nothing comes up.

Still a fun build, learning occurred, and always fun to play along. Looking forward to reviewing all the threads and seeing the final pics.

Ok, so I got out and wire brushed the frame:

Then I used a heat gun to get the frame hot enough you wouldn’t want to touch it and applied the BLO. I read somewhere that helps the metal “absorb” the oil a bit, speeds drying, and maybe forms a bit of patina. No patina immediatley, but she’s done. With rain and/or 99% humidity for the forseeable future, paint wasn’t going to happen. I’ve threatened a bare frame a few times before… here ya go!

It’ll have a good five days to dry/cure before assembly.
