Took the ol' boy out for a spin this morning.

Companion of the heron, wingman to the goldfinch, frenemy of the bluejay

Chain has been snugged up. Problem solved.

Over the last couple of weeks, the Duck has been acting as stand in for Good From Afar for final shot testing. Whole lotta pretty spots, and a green bike.

Plenty more where that came from

You calling me a goose?!
IMG_20211022_102825645.jpg

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the H377 else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well, I'm the only one here.

Started to creak and bit in the BB. Maybe I'll look into it this winter. Also planning a saddle upholstery project that might end up here

Confession time: I was never happy with the graphics on the tank. Even less so when, in an attempt to hide my loss of skill, I distressed the paint. It looked tremendously stupid with old battered paint on fresh clean wood. So it's back to the drawing board

Painted over the old dot, sketched, and transferred, and it's time for paint.

It'll do. I need to find paint markers

Scored myself a new seat for the Duck, nice little Norco with etched graphics, piped seams, and stitched top.

It is much smaller than the one I took off. Seems further forward on the rails too, I might have to think about a layback. We'll see how it sits after a few kilometers. Got the panels back in place too.

Been thinking about stripping the crank arms off GFA and moving them on here, would give me a chance to peek inside the BB, it has been creaking a bit. Whitewalls are getting a little crackley, but there's at least another year in them.

Lol too late, the left panel is now thin. Just got it back this afternoon. I can't adjust the brackets, they're welded directly to the frame, similar to a chain guard mount. I guess "tabs" would be more accurate.View attachment 103796That reminds me, still gotta grind off the chain guard tabs.
If the edges are tapered some anyway why not use your original plate as a shim inside the other side of the frame and let them protrude the small amount on other side.
Then you can appreciate them while you ride.

That's a cool rig. I need to find me a local group of cool klunker/cruiser folks who enjoy beering it up a little and cruising around. I think it would be fun and I could show off my various big box Chinesium garbage rod builds. I have a pile of Walmart MTB scrap rigs I have plans for converting this summer.

Y'all know how I roll with the Duck, we can hardly pass a trail without doing some exploring. The wide cruiser bars aren't cutting it, I need something more aggressive. With that in mind, I dug into the vault.

Here's a set of Zoom suspension cruiser bars. I think they're aluminum. Probably 25 or 30 years old, never been used. The elastomers have not even been squished. Had to swipe a washer from a set of brakes. That's gen-u-wine Shimano hardware!
